Assembling Objects

What's covered
Spatial reasoning in two forms. Connection problems show two shapes with labeled points and a line; you pick the answer where the line connects the same two points correctly. Puzzle problems show scattered pieces; you pick the answer showing them assembled.
It doesn't count toward the AFQT
AO has no effect on whether you can enlist. It does feed line scores for some technical and mechanical specialties, so its value depends entirely on the jobs you're targeting. If you're short on study time, this is the section to sacrifice.
The mirror trap
This is the single most important thing to know. A piece may be rotated in the answer, but never flipped. Wrong answers are frequently the correct shape mirrored. Pick one asymmetric feature — a notch, a hook, a longer edge — and check which side it sits on. If it's switched sides, that choice is out, no matter how right the rest looks.
Connection strategy
Look at where the line attaches before anything else. If the line meets the wrong point on a shape, or leaves at the wrong angle, eliminate immediately. Line length and angle are preserved in the correct answer.
Puzzle strategy
Count the pieces first — a choice with an extra or missing piece is out. Then find the most distinctive piece, usually the largest or the one with a unique angle, and locate it in each option. Match mating edges by length rather than comparing overall silhouettes.
Pacing
15 questions in 17 minutes is about 68 seconds each. Eliminate by one feature at a time rather than mentally assembling every option. If you're stuck past a minute, guess and move on — there's no penalty.
